The Acute Gynaecology Unit (AGU) provides a clinician lead service for women with emergency gynaecological problems. Our clinics are run by teams of doctors, nurses and a Lead Consultant Gynaecologist.
Our other Maternity Services are:
Early Pregnancy
Fetal Medicine
Neonatalogy
Referral for recurrent miscarriage clinic:
Following 3 consecutive miscarriages your GP can refer you into the Hospital to see our specialist consultant.
Who do we see in emergencies?
What should you expect at your visit?
You will see a doctor or a nurse who will assess you by taking your medical history and examine you if necessary. Where appropriate a scan will be arranged (may be done internally through the vagina)
How do we run the gynaecological clinic?
The emergency sessions are open every weekday pm. Appointments can be booked via A&E or GP referrals on the day by phoning the Early Pregnancy number. The system runs on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to those who are unwell. The clinics are often busy and long waits are sometimes inevitable. If the clinic is exceptionally busy we may need to close to further patients.
