Cinderella Dutiro

Cinderella Dutiro, EAU1, Luton & Dunstable

November nomination

“I first met Cinderella when I was admitted to EAU over a year ago. I wasn’t very coherent for a couple of days. She was the first person I remembered. She was very professional but so very kind. She looked after me during what was a very frightening time for me. Nothing was too much trouble for her.

“Cinderella went above and beyond and I will always be thankful for her.
I was admitted again to the EAU over a year later and I asked about her. Thankfully she still worked there and I was lucky enough to meet her again and thank her for all that she did for me.

“She is an exceptional nurse who is very kind and very caring. It takes a lot for me to remember someone I had only known a few days, over a year later. Shows what a special kind of person she is and that she deserves recognition.”

December nomination

“This ward is incredibly busy with a range of ages and needs of the patients. The turnover of patients is intense, one bed opposite me had a turnover of 4 patients in under 24 hours.

“Cindy goes out of her way to ensure that all patients in her care are pain free, well hydrated and comfortable. The level of hygiene is very well managed. Cindy ensures that all equipment whether large items like beds to blood pressure cuffs etc. are thoroughly cleaned between each use.

“Cindy will try to keep morale high chatting to all patients and taking time to learn about what’s important to our needs and wellbeing. When at times people may feel a little low Cindy tries to give time to talk things through and cheer people up if possible. She demonstrates an incredible work ethic, working autonomously and interacting well with the other members of the team.

“Although I was admitted due to a PE, Cindy took time to understand my other medical issues and the impact they have on me, the pain management I needed for the overall needs to be met.

“Cindy is a credit to the L&D Hospital and to her department. Without Cindy my stay would not have been so positive.”
