Jenny Wood
Orthopaedics Sister – L&D – November 2024 Honouree
Jenny was nominated by a colleague who was new to the department, and has appreciated Jenny’s professionalism and support:
“I started work in the department in June this year and have found Jenny so supportive. She is a kind, thoughtful, and caring person who is very much focused on patient-centred care and is very keen for our patients to have a positive journey through the department. This also extends to members of staff, as she addresses any problems, issues, or concerns as soon as they arise.
“I personally have found Jenny incredibly supportive and encouraging as I navigate my new role. It has made such a difference to have a Band 6 who is not just concerned about patients’ journeys but also wants her team to have positive journeys as well. I wanted her to know she has made such a difference – not only to patients but to staff as well.
“I had a concern arise, and Jenny sat me down and let me talk about what was on my mind. By the end, I truly felt I had been heard, and my concern was talked through and dealt with there and then. She is never too busy if you need to talk to her—she puts everything to one side so she can give you her full attention.
“I just wanted to let Jenny know how much I have appreciated her support and kindness, even before I started work in orthopaedics. I emailed her asking for a visit, and was welcomed into the department and introduced to the team I would be working with. I was only planning on spending a few hours at the department, but I enjoyed it so much I stayed for the whole morning.
“This is why I want to nominate Jenny for a Daisy Award.”
