Orchard Gynae Staff Nurse – Bedford Hospital – February 2025 Honouree

Hollie was nominated by the partner of a patient, and was grateful for Hollie’s care:

“I wish to nominate a member of staff for the Hollie Brown, an RN who works on Orchard Gynae in Bedford Hospital.

“Recently my wife had been admitted to the ward following surgery, Hollie was very welcoming and took time to introduce herself and listen to the history of events the minute my wife got there. She took time to understand my wife’s needs and was very prompt in addressing them, nothing ever seemed too much trouble and she regularly checked on my wife without being called for. My wife felt very valued and respected.

“Hollie showed the same care to other patients in the bay and although she was constantly busy with all of their need’s too my wife always felt safe and supported throughout her stay on the ward.
Hollie had a pleasant, positive and cheery attitude which helped both of us feel at ease, we felt that she worked very hard to make sure her stay was as pleasant as possible, and every need was met. She regularly kept us up to date with everything that was happening with my wife’s care and contacted doctors right away when we had a question that she couldn’t answer. Even though I couldn’t be there all the time I was confident she was in great hands and would contact me if she needed to.

“We both feel that we were very lucky in having Hollie look after my wife when she was most at need, she made the whole journey much easier to cope with in a challenging time for us.

“We both feel that her honesty, caring nature and hard work needs to be recognised and rewarded. Please give her our heartfelt thanks and the award for being the nurse she is. She really does change lives.”
