Pilgrim Ward

Pilgrim Ward has 30 acute medical beds and specialises in Respiratory Medicine.

Pilgrim Ward is for both male and female patients with various respiratory problems including COPD, Bronchial Asthma, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Pleural diseases, COVID-19 etc. Pilgrim Ward also specialises in the care of adult patients receiving acute non-invasive respiratory support (NIRS) which includes non-invasive ventilation (NIV), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).

Pilgrim Ward can be found on the second floor of the ward block and is serviced by the Main Reception located on Kempston Road.

Visitor Information

Visiting Times

2.00pm – 8.00pm but Protected Mealtimes are advocated.

Protected Mealtimes

Breakfast: 7.45am – 8.15am.
Lunch: 12.30pm – 1.15pm.
Evening Meal: 5.30pm – 6.15pm.

If you would like to assist with the care of your relative outside of normal visiting hours, please speak to the nurse in charge.

All visitors are encouraged to wash hands or use alcohol hand gel on entering and leaving the ward. Alcohol hand gel is placed at various parts of the ward for staff and visitors to use.

Children will not be permitted on the ward.

All visitors must wear appropriate PPE as directed by the staff.

Patient Entertainment 

Patients can access free entertainment from their own devices (mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc) including a selection of Freeview TV channels, Hospital Radio, further popular Radio stations and the ability to view Newspapers and Magazines.
