Recruitment process

If you are thinking of applying for a role with Bedfordshire Hospital or have already applied, there are a number of stages that you will need to go through as part of the recruitment process. You can find out helpful information about each of these stages below.

All our vacancies are advertised on NHS Jobs and Trac/HealthJobsUK via the links below.  You will need to create an account on Trac to submit an application and this can be done through either NHS Jobs or HealthJobsUK.

 

Before applying iconWe welcome applicants who embody our values and are committed to putting our service users at the heart of everything we do. Ensure you read through the advert, job description and person specification as this will you a good understanding of what the role involves as well as the key qualifications, experience, skills and knowledge required for the role. You will need to evidence that you meet the essential criteria for the role in your application form.

Completing the application formTo apply for a job you will need to complete an online application form.  The ‘apply now’ button is linked against all our vacancies.  Complete all the information on the application form as accurately as possible including your education and qualifications as well as all your work history for at least the last 5 years.  The supporting information is your chance to sell yourself and your skills.  Use this section to evidence how you meet the essential and desirable criteria of the Person Specification.

Please note that although a closing date is given against each of our adverts, we do on occasion, close adverts early if sufficient number of applications have been received.

Shortlisting and interviews iconOnce the advert has closed shortlisting is undertaken using the information provided on your application form and how well this matches the essential criteria of the person specification.  If you are successful you will be sent an invitation to attend an interview via your Trac Jobs account.  This invitation will detail if any tests or presentations are to be included in the interview process. You will need to log into your Trac account to book into an interview slot.

If you have not been shortlisted for interview you will receive an email to confirm this.

Being prepared for your interview will help you to perform well on the day and feel more confident.  Make sure you are familiar with the job role, the Trust and our values. Answer questions clearly and concisely and use examples to demonstrate your experience.

If successful at interview you will be made a verbal job offer which will then be followed by a conditional offer letter. All offers of employment are subject to the following pre-employment checks (depending upon the role that you have applied for):

  • Identity
  • Eligibility to Work
  • DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, if applicable)
  • Occupational Health assessment
  • References (covering the last 3 years of employment or education)
  • Qualifications, Professional Bodies and memberships, if applicabl

Once all you pre-employment checks are successfully completed you will be contacted by your line manager to agree a start date.  You will also be booked onto the Trust Induction programme. Further information including access to your ESR dashboard will be sent through to you. This gives you the opportunity to complete your e-learning modules prior to your first day in post.
