Mr Muttalib is a Clinical and Educational Supervisor, teaching undergraduate medical students right up to senior members of the surgical team. He is an Examiner for the European Board of Surgery and elected to the Hunterian Surgical Society Council. Mr Muttalib is a peer reviewer for the British Journal of Surgery.

Education and Training

Masoom Muttalib graduated (MBBS) from St. George’s Hospital Medical School before gaining additional surgical experience in Washington in 1998 and completing his Master’s degree at UCL. After further training, Mr Muttalib gained accreditation from the Royal College of Surgeons Intercollegiate Specialty Board in 2009 pursuant to his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), and is on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register.

Experience

Mr Muttalib joined Bedford Hospital NHS Trust in 2011 and specialises in breast clinic assessments with diagnostic biopsy (including benign conditions), guided surgery for breast screening patients, staging with sentinel lymph node biopsy as well as breast surgery utilising oncoplastic (cosmetic) techniques.

Research

He has had research work and publications presented in the UK and USA and at global scientific conferences as diverse as Bordeaux, Athens, Dubai and Hong Kong. Mr Muttalib is a peer reviewer for the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment (HTA).
