Mr Nicholas Clifton Consultant ENT Surgeon

BSc, MB, ChB, FRCS(ORL/HNS) Consultant Adult and Paediatric ENT surgeon with advanced fellowship training in rhinology.

Mr Clifton treats adults and children with ear, nose and throat conditions. He has a sub-specialist interest in diseases of the nose and sinuses. This includes nasal allergy, facial pain, sinus surgery and both functional and cosmetic nasal surgery.

Mr Clifton qualified in medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2000 and was a specialist registrar in ENT in the East Midlands Deanery for six years. He then completed a further two years of advanced fellowship training in Rhinology in Plymouth UK and Melbourne, Australia.

Mr Singh completed his undergraduate medical training from Manchester. After basic surgical training he undertook a period or research in Cambridge, investigation the genetics of hearing loss. He did his Speciality Registrar Otolaryngology training in South Thames, including rotating through Guy’s & St Thomas’ hospitals. Following this, he went on the prestigious TWJ Fellowship to develop advanced experience in Otology and Neurotology in Toronto.

Jaan Panesar, Consultant ENT Surgeon

Jaan Panesar is an ENT consultant with a special interest in paediatric surgery, rhinology and allergy. She also specializes in functional and aesthetic rhinoplasties. She sees children with obstructive sleep apnoea, glue ears, tongue ties and tonsillitis. She treats patients with allergies, sinusitis, snoring and nasal obstruction. She uses the new technique of balloon sinuplasty to treat patients with sinus problems.

Jaan is known for her caring and gentle approach with patients.

Mr Rashid is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat and Head & Neck Surgeon who practices in the NHS at Bedford and the Luton & Dunstable University Hospitals since 2017. He graduated from St George’s University of London in 2006 and subsequently undertook higher surgical training in ENT first in the North West of England then in the South West of England. In this time he received multiple prizes coming 1st and 2nd (most recently in 2017) for best presentation at national and international meetings. He was also awarded the Ian McKenzie travelling scholarship in 2014.

Scope of Practice

  • All aspects of adult and paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders
  • Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy/Nasal Procedures (septal/turbinate surgery, Ear procedures (grommets/myringoplasty/wax removal)
  • Diagnosis of Head & Neck cancer (neck lumps/throat/voice)
  • Swallowing problems/lump in throat/reflux/catarrh
  • Management of hearing loss/dizziness/vertigo/tinnitus

Areas of Expertise

  • Diagnosis and management of thyroid lumps/cancer including investigation and surgical treatment.
  • Treatment of salivary gland disease and tumours including submandibular gland and parotid gland surgery.
  • Medical and surgical management of sinus disease, nasal polyps, rhinitis, facial pain, nasal breathing problems, functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
  • Management of sleep disorders and snoring in adult and children.

Mr Rashid has expertise in all aspects of adult and paediatric ear, nose and throat disorders but has a particular interest in thyroid and parathyroid disease and surgery as well as salivary disease and submandibular and parotid surgery.

Dr Rishi Talwar is a respected ENT Consultant with over 20 years experience of performing ENT surgery. He specialises in all aspects of ENT and has super specialist expertise in Paediatric ENT, Rhinology and Facial Plastics. He is on the GMC specialist register, is an accredited trainer and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has been awarded Clinical Excellence Awards and was recently appointed RCS Deputy Director of Surgery EoEngland.

Mr Talwar’s primary aim is to enhance the quality of his patients’ lives. He provides detailed and personalised care, whether that may be medical or surgical, with consistently high standards of clinical practice, as evidenced by his patients’ and colleagues’ feedback over many years.

He graduated from Barts & the London, where he was also elected Vice-President of the Students’ Association. He went on to undertake specialist ENT training in London, at centres of excellence including the Royal National ENT Hospital, St Bartholomew’s & the Royal London Hospitals, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, St Mary’s Hospital, Guy’s, St Thomas’ & Evelina London Children’s Hospitals. He undertook super specialist Fellowship training in Paediatric ENT and Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery and is one of less than a handful of UK ENT Surgeons who is Fellowship accredited in both Paediatric ENT and Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery. He gained further expertise by spending some time overseas in the USA at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and in Spain.

He was first appointed as a Consultant at Guy’s, St Thomas’ & Evelina London Children’s Hospitals and moved to continue his interests in both Paediatric ENT and Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery. His current NHS base is at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital where he has been ENT Education Lead and College Surgical Tutor for over 6 years.

Mr Talwar is actively involved in research. He has been Principle Investigator/Hospital Lead of NIHR trials and has published over 40 papers (including in the Lancet), 6 book chapters and has lectured on numerous postgraduate courses. He has presented and been invited as a Chairman at major International Conferences. He is a Lecturer in Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery at Canterbury ChristChurch University and has been shortlisted for various national and international ENT Surgery Training Awards.

He was the first UK ENT Surgeon to use a new form of Augmented Reality on patients to enhance Sinus surgery, in order to improve training but more importantly, patient safety. He is also the regional representative for the British Society of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Outside of work he loves travelling and spending time with his family. Apart from English, he is conversant in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

I am Consultant ENT and Head–Neck Surgeon. My NHS practice is  based at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital. I have done advance fellowship training in Head-Neck surgery as well as Ear (Otology) surgery. I was trained at premier institutes in the UK and India. I am in the Specialist register for Otolaryngology of General Medical Council- UK. I have been awarded national level Gold Medal for standing first in ENT training in India. I have many other academic and professional awards to my name. I am Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of England, Fellow of European Board of Otolaryngology as well as Associate Fellow of American College of Surgeons. I have vast experience of dealing in a wide range of adult and paediatric ENT problems/surgeries including  Tonsils, Adenoids, Sinus, Ear, Larynx (Voice/airway), salivary gland, thyroid, parathyroid and head-neck cancer surgery.

I have has special interest in Head-Neck Cancer and ear surgery. This includes thyroid and parathyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, voice related disorders, hearing loss/ear surgery. I am a core member of regional head and neck cancer, and thyroid cancer multi-disciplinary team.

I am a consultant ENT Surgeon with a focus on head and neck surgery. I specialise in throat issues such as neck lumps, problems with speaking and difficulty swallowing. This includes the removal of thyroid and salivary gland tumours.

Having trained in general ENT operations, I completed Head and Neck Fellowships at Guy’s and Charing Cross hospitals. I have a keen research interest and my PhD research was in gene regulation though my current work focuses on issues that affect my patients in daily practice
