Christmas

Christmas is by far the busiest time of year for our charity, and 2023 was no different! We had so much going on, from stalls, to our Light Up a Life and Give a Gift campaigns, to Jolly Jumper / Sparkle Day.

Our Give a Gift campaign was a huge success. We received 4,310 gifts for patients who were in hospital on Christmas Day, as well as £1,880.89 in donations. Thank you so much to everyone who got involved including individuals, hospital Board Members, charity ambassadors, and volunteers and colleagues across the trust for working so hard to coordinate and deliver the gifts to the wards.

Light up a Life is a campaign we run every year whereby everyone has the opportunity to buy a virtual light in memory of a loved one or as a unique gift to dedicate a light to someone in your life. In 2023, we raised £2,270 from the Light up a Life events for the Special Care Baby Unit in Bedford and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in L&D. The evening was filled with seasonal music, refreshments, a reading and of course the switch on. We hope all that attended had a great time and will come along again next year!

We combine Jolly Jumper Day with Sparkle Day, so that everyone can get involved, including those who don’t celebrate Christmas. Everyone is encouraged to wear either an item of sparkly clothing or a Christmas jumper. This year, we raised £361.25 towards our NICU Appeal.
