Fostering links with our local communities
In Bedford Hospital there is currently a fantastic display of photographs near the care of the elderly wards, depicting historical industries in and around Bedford throughout the years. This helps to root the hospital in the community and gives a sense of familiarity to patients, visitors and staff.
We would like to expand this project further across both hospital sites and hope to collaborate with Bedfordshire Archives and Luton Museums. Please contact us at the email address below if you have any thoughts on the types of images of your local community that you would like to see included in this new project.
One of our staff members has created a large body of artwork depicting fellow members of staff across both hospital sites. We are in the process of deciding how best to display these across the two sites.
The extensive redevelopment work that is taking place across both hospital sites provides us with an exciting opportunity to work with the redevelopment teams to incorporate new art projects into the plans. Watch this space to see what appears!
In our first year, we have focussed mainly on the visual arts and have also included some poetry in our projects.
However, in the future we would like to expand our remit to include other art forms such as music and dance.
If you have any ideas about what shape these future projects might take, then please contact us at the email address below.
Regular Creative Workshops for staff
Following the success of our artist-led creative workshops for staff as part of our Jubilee Project, we would like to hold further similar workshops on a regular basis. We are looking at ways of doing this. If you have ideas of what sort of creative workshops you would like to see, please contact us via email.
