“During my higher-level pharmacy technician apprenticeship, I gained a range of technical and clinical skills, including accurately dispensing medications, performing pharmaceutical calculations, and preparing compounded medications. I developed strong knowledge of medication management, patient counselling, and pharmacovigilance, working alongside healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care. Additionally, I honed my problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills while utilizing pharmacy management software and contributing to team collaboration and supervision where applicable. These skills have enabled me to provide safe, efficient, and patient-focused care in a busy pharmacy setting.”

“In the past, I always thought apprenticeships were a learning platform for young people only, to develop and progress within their careers. How happy I was to find out there is no age limit and as a mature learner I could tap into the opportunity to learn new skills, develop existing ones and obtain a professional qualification.”

“I think the apprenticeship has benefitted me in all aspects and I have become a stronger individual for it. For instance, my skills in understanding anatomy and pathologies for plain and cross-sectional imaging has improved vastly. I have also strengthened and created new bonds by working as part of various multi-disciplinary teams.”
