Oliver McGowan Training

The training aims to ensure the health and care workforce have the right skills and knowledge to provide safe, compassionate and informed care to autistic people and people with a learning disability. The Oliver McGowan Training comes in two tiers and is designed so all staff working across all CQC registered services receive the right level of mandatory training.

Please note that this is a legal requirement and we strongly advise that all staff complete the training as soon as possible, however the Trust recognises that it will take time for all staff to complete. Therefore if staff have not completed this training for 2024/2025 or 2025/2026, it must not impact on pay or performance.

This pages gives you everything you need to know about the training.

How to complete

The training is in 2 parts.

Part 1

Complete eLearning accessed via the Compliance and Competency section of your ESR homepage. This is called The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Part 1. This must be completed first.

Part 2

This has 2 tiers. The tier you are required to complete is dependent upon your job
role and is stated within your ESR profile, also within the Compliance and Competency section. Please only book onto the tier shown on your ESR profile.

Tier 1 is an online live session delivered via MS Teams. If you require Tier 1, please register for one of the sessions. Please book a place in advance on the session you wish to attend using the registration links. This will generate an Outlook invite and you will be sent an MS Teams joining link prior to the session.

Please ensure to use full name, department and work email when registering. This is how the trainer will identify the staff apart of our Trust and how they will receive the link.

If you can’t find the email in your inbox, please check your spam or contact omtraining@autismbeds.org for assistance.
