Teenage Pregnancy Team and Additional Support
Incorporated within our community services we include a Teenage Pregnancy team and a Midwifery Parent Education team.
These teams consist of specialist midwives who provide enhanced midwifery care and support for clients in collaboration with Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire Councils.
Whatever type of maternity care is chosen, community midwives, obstetric consultants and hospital midwives will be available for support.
Health & Wellbeing
We offer free referrals to smoking cessation services and support women who want to reach a healthier weight during pregnancy by working with colleagues in dietetics and the community for physical activity guidance. Please visit our Health & wellbeing during pregnancy pages for more information.
Midwifery Parent Education Team
Our Midwifery Parent Education Team (MPET) provide women and their partners with high quality and up to date evidence based education in relation to pregnancy, labour and birth, infant feeding and transition to parenthood.
MPET also provide specialised classes to under 19s, multiple pregnancy, vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) and 3 hour Saturday antenatal programme.
Women who have used this service have found it very positive, with the majority of women rating the service as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’.
