All our resources are now available via EBSCO Discovery, the single place to access eBooks, Book Requests, Journals and point-of-care resources. You can also access using the URL http://search.ebscohost.com, via the hospital intranet.
Athens accounts are required to download full-text and read/lend eBooks.
NHS Evidence is available at http://www.evidence.nhs.uk . Evidence search provides access to selected and authoritative evidence in health, social care and public health enabling you to make better, quicker evidence based decisions.
UpToDate is available at http://www.uptodate.com. UpToDate, the evidence-based clinical decision support resource from Wolters Kluwer, is trusted at the point of care by clinicians worldwide.
BMJ Best Practice is available at http://bestpractice.bmj.com. BMJ Best Practice takes you quickly and accurately to the latest evidence-based information, whenever and wherever you need it.
Healthcare databases advanced search (HDAS). Search databases AMED, British Nursing Index, CINAHL, EMBASE, HMIC, MEDLINE, PsycINFO.
Funding has been provided by Health Education England for a core set of information databases that can be searched for journal references, obtaining full-text articles, to view medical images and to read electronic books. To access these resources an Athens password is required.
NHS Athens passwords offer enhanced access to on-line resources.
It is advisable to register for an Athens password when you are attached to the NHS computer network, because the Athens system can recognise the NHS computer servers and register you straight away.
You can register from a non-NHSnet computer, i.e. at home, but you may have to wait up to 10- 15 days for your credentials to be verified. However, once you have your Athens password you can use it from your home computer.
