Staff from Domino's running 5kDomino’s Pizza run 5k for Helipad Appeal
Staff from Domino’s Pizza Luton, Domino’s Pizza Dunstableand other local stores took part in the Wardown 5k Park Run to raise funds for our Helipad Appeal. They raised an amazing £783.88 and we would like to say a huge thank you for their ongoing support.

 

 

Sainsburys Dunstable Collection for our Helipad Appeal
At the beginning of last month we held our first store collection at Sainsbury’s in Dunstable, in aid of our Helipad Appeal.We are delighted to have raised £480!

 

 

 

Birthday Party donation to NICU
Hana was born at just under 25 weeks and spent two months in our NICU. As her parents live in Watford, Zahida was able to stay in our Parents Accommodation whilst Manny travelled between the unit, work and home. Without the accommodation their experience would’ve been much more stressful when they needed to be by Hana’s side quickly. Hana recently celebrated her 1st birthday and raised a wonderful £760 at her birthday party for NICU, thank you!

Thank you to David Geldart who made a donation on behalf of the members of the Chalgrave Manor Golf Club Senior Section for our Helipad Appeal. They had a charity day which raised £265.

 

 

 

Ward 15 HCA and daughter at cake saleWard 15 and Dementia
Ward 15 recently held a cake sale and tea party to raise money for their ward and our Dementia Care fund. A fantastic £443.08 was raised! A huge well done for their hard work towards the improvement of patient experience at the L&D.

Kirsty Moore recently held a Charity Car Meet in Milton Keynes to raise money for our Helipad Appeal. Despite the rainy weather she managed to raise £49.98! We are extremely thankful for your support in holding this fundraiser.

Smith’s Medical based in Bramingham Business Park recently held an end of year party. They held a raffle and collected donations towards our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We were delighted to receive £417.09 – thank you!

A huge thank you to Hilton Garden Inn, Luton and Hampton by Hilton, Luton for coming in this week to tidy up the hospital site. They done a fantastic job of clearing up litter and we really appreciate it!

 

 

 

Donation to our Dementia Unit
Thank you to Vince Shuel who came in on behalf of Christine Calvey with a cheque for £300 for our Dementia Unit! Christine recently held a birthday party and asked for donations towards the unit instead of gifts.

 

 

 

Local school raises money for PONC!
Over the last year Maidenhall Primary School have been raising funds to support our Child Oncology Rooms Project. Community Fundraiser, Bianca was delighted to visit the school and receive a cheque for £490.80! Thank you to all the students for your hard work in supporting the transformation of our the treatment rooms, where our young patients with leukemia and cancer are cared for.

 

 

Money raised for our Chemo Unit
Joe Ward is one our patients at the L&D and has been having treatment for prostate cancer on and off since 2002. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday and instead of receiving presents he asked for donations to the Chemotherapy Unit. We were delighted to have Joe present a cheque of £550 – thank you very much!

 

 

Tesco store collection raises money for Ward 32.
We are delighted to announce £552.24 was raised at our Tesco store collection for Ward 32’s ultrasound appeal. A massive thank you to everyone who collected and donated, this will go towards a fantastic piece of equipment to help future mothers-to-be.

 

 

Sainsbury’s Bramingham Park Charity Partner Total
Two years ago Sainsbury’s Bramingham Park selected our Child Oncology Rooms Project as their chosen charity partner. Over the past two years they have held various activities, events and store collections to support the transformation of our young cancer patients rooms.

We were absolutely delighted to receive a cheque for £13,068 for the making it a total of £24,406 for the past two years! A huge thank you for all their support and for giving us this fantastic opportunity, we truly are grateful.

 

Head shave to raise money for NICU
Annie raised money for our NICU by shaving her head at her son’s christening. Her husband also had his legs waxed too! They raised a total of £1,227.63 for NICU. We are extremely thankful and appreciate your support. Well done!

 

 

 

Charity Bingo Night
Thank you to everyone who came to our Bingo Night. We are delighted to have raised over £1,000 for the Luton and Dunstable Hospital Charitable Fund.

 

 

 

Local school raise money for our Child Oncology Rooms Project
Thank you to the students at Watling Lower School in Dunstable for raising an incredible £1168.45. They have held various activities throughout the year to raise funds for the Child Oncology Rooms Project.

Virtual Run for PONC
A huge thank you to the staff at Hilton Garden Inn, Luton for raising a total of £492.50 from their virtual run which coincided with our Child Oncology Walk. All funds will support our Child Oncology Rooms Project.

 

 

 

Child Oncology Rooms Project Donation
A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Modi for donating £701 to our Child Oncology Rooms Project.

They chose to raise money through The Bedfordshire Gandhi Foundation, as part of their 40th wedding and 60th birthday celebrations. They have close ties to the hospital as their son was a NICU baby over 30 years ago and is now a Dad.

 

NHS 70th Celebrations
On Thursday 5th July we held a variety of cakes sales, food stalls, Mayoral visits and much more to celebrate the NHS turning 70! Thank you so much to everyone who supported making our day a very special one!

 

 

 

Ward 22 Cake Sale
A cake sale was held in memory of Aimee Varney, a former nurse on Ward 22 and raised £146.57. Thank you to everyone who supported or donated on the day.

 

 

 

World Cup wall charts raise huge amount of money for NICU
One of our former NICU Dads Elliott Quince has been selling World Cup wall charts illustrated by himself to raise money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. 4 years ago he raised £2,290, 2 years ago he raised £2,750 and this year set a target of beating £3,000.

We are delighted to announce he has raised over £12,300!! We are extremely thankful for his hard-work, commitment and time to help raise funds for NICU.

 

Money raised for NICU
We were delighted to meet Sarah O’Dell and her 3 year old son Thomas who donated a fantastic £604 to our NICU! Thomas was born six weeks early and spent two weeks in our NICU. Whilst our wonderful team looked after Thomas, Sarah was able to use our overnight NICU accommodation. The money was raised through a Pamper Evening and selling sweet cones, they will be continuing to support and fundraise for NICU. A huge thank you!

 

 

Knitting for NICU and Dementia
Thank you to the ladies at Eaton Bray WI who donated some lovely knitting for our NICU and Dementia units. Our Community Fundraiser, Bianca was delighted to visit the ladies this week and talk to them about our Helipad Appeal.

 

 

 

Thank you to Domino’s Pizza Luton for inviting our Community Fundraiser, Bianca along for a talk, tour and training on how to make pizza. We even had some L&D pizzas created! We are delighted to announce that a fantastic £864.33 was raised at the Sainsbury’s in Bramingham store collections last weekend for the Child Oncology Rooms Project. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for giving their time and to everyone who donated!

 

 

Primary School raised money for NICU
Community Fundraiser, Bianca visited Sacred Heart Primary School in Stopsley to collect a cheque from the students for £407 for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit! Charlotte, a former teacher, experienced the wonderful work our NICU provide when her daughter Evie was treated in 2017. Thank you!

 

 

L&D chosen as a charity of the year!
Thank you to the staff at Foxley Kingham Anniversary Foundation who have chosen us as one of their charity partners for the year supporting our Maternity Bereavement Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Cancer Unit. The Directors and Staff at Foxley Kingham, a Luton-based chartered accounts and business advisors, set themselves the challenge of raising £50,000 to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. Wishing them all the very best of luck!

 

 

Asda Green Token
We are delighted to announce that we have been selected as one of Asda in Dunstable’s Green Token local causes from July to September 2018. This will be in aid our Helipad Appeal which will save lives and give more people a better chance of recovery. Keep an eye in-store from July and make sure you vote for us!

 

 

Money raised for NICU 
Thank you to George Hay for delivering a cheque of just over £1,600 to our NICU parents accommodation on Friday, along with essential items they have been collecting for parents who stay. The team chose to support NICU as one of their members of staff stayed in the bungalow a few years ago. A massive thank you for your support, this is really appreciated by the team and the parents who stay.

 

 

‘A Night to Remember our Trees’
Community Fundraiser, Bianca attended a cheque presentation following on from ‘A Night To Remember our Trees’ Charity evening. The night raised £9,535 for our cancer unit with Barclays, Luton match funding £1,000. A huge thank you to everyone involved for raising £10,535. This money will go towards the purchasing of a chemotherapy chair and chemotherapy pump.
