NHS Big Tea
What is the NHS Big Tea?
On Tuesday 5 July, Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity is inviting people across Bedfordshire to join in the biggest NHS tea party to date, by hosting their own tea party in celebration of our health service’s 74th birthday!
Led by NHS Charities Together, the NHS Big Tea brings the nation together to give thanks to our incredible NHS, whilst raising vital funds to provide the extra support needed to sustain and accelerate the NHS for staff, patients and volunteers. And what better way for communities to celebrate than with our second national treasure – tea!
Why should you get involved?
This is an excellent opportunity for communities to come together and pay tribute to the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly everyday to care for us in our times of need. As we ease out of the restrictions from the pandemic, this year’s NHS Big Tea is particularly poignant.
Whilst in communities outside of the hospital the pandemic seems a thing of the past, the effects of COVID-19 are still felt heavily within our NHS. To recover and rebuild, we need support from local communities.
How can you get involved?
There are lots of different ways to get involved in the NHS Big Tea, including hosting:
- A teddy bear’s picnic
- Afternoon tea
- Staff room tea party
- Tee off at three
- Wear blue and drink a brew
- Garden party
- Guess how many tea bags are in the jar
- Name the bear
And if none of the above is quite your cup of tea, why not dream up your own creative idea? We’d love to see what you get up to, so don’t forget to post your activities on socials using the hashtags #WearBlueAndDrinkABrew and #NHSBigTea.
Keep an eye out for some activities which you could also get involved with, but in the meantime you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/the-bedfordshire-hospital-s-nhs-charity-nhs-big-tea
